If you've been experiencing severe lag on your Google Pixel 2 XL, you're not alone. Over the past few weeks, there have been reports of the Pixel 2 XL encountering moderate to severe performance issues. For some, but not all users, this includes system lag from animations to opening apps, primarily the camera.

Android Police founder, Artem Russakovskii, was the first to notice the problem with his own Pixel 2 XL last month, while YouTuber Marques Brownlee also highlighted some of his own problems in a video:

Since then, there have been more reports of issues focusing on animation lag and slow app performance startup and performance. Many users seem to be having issues with the camera app taking up to ten seconds to start up, and then experiencing sluggish performance when the app does finally load.

Google is currently investigating the issue, and according to an anonymous source at 9to5Google, has identified three possible issues with the Pixel 2 XL. One involves hardware and will require a replacement, while the other two are software based and should be able to be fixed with a patch.
