Google could be working on an encryption/decryption feature for the Google Drive app on Android.

XDA Developers did an APK teardown of the Google Drive for Android v2.20.44.1.06.40 and discovered strings of code that will soon allow users to open encrypted files directly. Users can also download and decrypt files using the Google Drive app. While users can encrypt files saved on their Android devices with the Google Drive app, all copies of the files will be deleted on the device.

There is no specific timeline as to when Google will roll out this feature. It also remains to be seen if Google will offer it as a free or paid feature.
