Starting from this year, Google's formerly Nexus phones may be marketed under the Pixel branding.

According to Android Police, two independent sources claim that Google will marketing the two HTC-made smartphones - codenamed S1 and M1 - as the Pixel and Pixel XL. If true, the Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X could be the last Nexus-branded phones. Two years ago, Google denied that it was axing the Nexus program and remain invested.

The publication also heard from another reliable source that Google is planning to hold a major launch event on 4th October for the Pixel phones, a 4K Chromecast, Google Home and a DayDream VR viewer.
