Fujitsu Demos ES IS12F Waterproof Smartphone
At CES Unveiled 2012, Fujitsu had a hands-on demonstration of its waterproof smartphone, the Fujitsu Arrows ES IS12F. The device is currently the thinnest Android 2.3 smartphone, though it's not the lightest with its 105g weight.
The Fujitsu Arrows ES IS12F is powered by Android 2.3 and has a single-core 1.4GHz processor underneath it.
Thin smartrphones, such as the Motorola Razr, won't always be the world's thinnest smartphone. Fujitsu's Arrows ES IS12F, which was just showcased at CES Unveiled 2012, has taken that title with its 6.7mm profile.
Its 6.7mm profile makes it even thinner than the Motorola Razr.
Following the footsteps of most tough and rugged smartphones, the ES IS12F utilizes a chip-resistant and scratch-resistant coating known as ultra tough guard. The Android 2.3 smartphone has a weight of 105g, so it won't be the lightest smartphone around. It comes with a 4.0-inch display, and you won't have to worry about scratching it thanks to the now commonly seen Corning Gorilla Glass protecting it.
The usual WVGA resolution of 480 x 800 pixels is found on the ES IS12F, and we saw some decent screen quality with its AMOLED display. Underneath the device, you'll have a Qualcomm single-core MSM8255 1.4GHz processor and 1GB of RAM for multi-tasking purposes.
Unfortunately, the device is currently available only within Japan under NTT Docomo. A Fujitsu spokesperson did mention that they won't be ruling out the possibility of bringing the device globally, though the region or time frame wasn't provided. But if you're really interested in getting your hands on an import set, we won't say it's impossible. The Fujitsu Arrows ES IS12F is priced approximately at 57,800 yen.
