Adding to the recent images leak of the Sony Ericsson Arc HD (Nozomi) are two other pictures revealing a Sony-branded Xperia device. Could this possibly be the first Sony phone? Codenamed Nyphon, it is rumored to have the following specifications:

  • Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • 1GHz dual-core U8500 chipset built by ST-Ericsson
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 16GB of storage
  • 4-inch qHD display
  • 8-megapixel Exmor R Camera with backlit sensor

If the rumor turns out to be true, Sony's first phone may seem a little underwhelming when compared to the Nozomi, which will come with a 4.3-inch LCD display, 12-megapixel camera and a Qualcomm dual-core 1.5GHz processor.

With quad-core phones such as the HTC Zeta and Edge expected to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2012, the Nyphon may face tougher competition in the market.
