EU might ban sales of iPhone if Apple limits speeds on non-MFi USB-C cables

The EU has issued a warning letter to Apple about its rumoured plans to limit charging and data speeds of non-MFi USB-C cables for the iPhone.
According to German newspaper Die Zeit, EU commissioner Thierry Breton sent Apple a warning letter to not limit the functionality of USB-C cables. If Apple fails to comply, the EU is considering a ban of iPhone sales. The EU reportedly also warned Apple during a meeting in March.
Apple confirmed in October 2022 that it respects the decision of the EU and will switch to USB-C for the iPhone to comply with the regulations. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote in November 2022 that the iPhone 15 Pro models might support higher-speed data transfers with USB-C. Tipster @VNchocoTaco claimed in March 2023 that non-MFi cables "will be software limited in data and charging speed".
