English-language version of Samsung's Bixby will not be available at launch

Samsung's Bixby virtual assistant will not support English language at launch. Read on to find out why.

Samsung's Bixby virtual assistant, a major feature on the upcoming Galaxy S8/S8+, might not be ready to support English language at launch.

A person familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that the launch of the English-language version of Bixby is delayed and could only be available as late as end May. Apparently, the performance of the English-speaking version of Bixby is not on-par with the Korean counterpart in voice recognition capabilities.

The WSJ's report follows an earlier news that the launch of Bixby Voice will also be delayed in the U.S. This means that consumers in the U.S are unable to use the voice search functionality of Bixby when they get the Galaxy S8/S8+ on 21 April. An official statement from Samsung reveals that Bixby Voice will be available later this spring.
