Death date announced for Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft has put the final nail in the coffin by announcing an official death date for Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft's Windows 10 Mobile OS never really took off and two years ago, Microsoft’s corporate VP for Windows, Joe Belfiore, announced that Microsoft would stop releasing new features and hardware for the OS.

Now, Microsoft has put the final nail in the coffin by announcing an official death date for the OS: 19th December 2019.

For the past two years, Microsoft has continued to release security and software updates for the OS, but that will end this coming December, with no further support after that date. Other services like automatic and manual device backups will also end.

For any customers still using a Windows 10 Mobile device, Microsoft “recommends that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device.”
