Last month, Microsoft rolled out a pretty major update of Cortana on Android and iOS, but it looks like the company isn’t done yet.
As reported by MSPoweruser, Microsoft’s now testing a new feature that lets Android users access the personal assistant with a single swipe from the phone’s lockscreen.
Once enabled in the Cortana app, a Cortana logo will be added to the lockscreen, which you can either swipe left or right to bring up the Cortana panel. From then on, you'll be able to do usual Cortana-y stuff like checking updates, setting reminders, and asking it questions. Better yet, MSPoweruser says this Cortana on lockscreen feature also plays nice with custom lockscreen apps.
Unless you're super into Microsoft's services or a Cortana user on desktop Windows, I really don't see many Android users choosing it over Google Assistant. That said, this is another example of what's more possible on Android than iOS. For example, notification syncing to a Windows 10 PC through Cortana only works if you're on Android too.
If you’re interested to try out this feature, you can join the Cortana for Android beta program here.
