China Mobile Receives Over a Million iPhone 5S Phones from Foxconn
China Mobile has just received over a million units of Apple's new iPhone 5S phones from manufacturer Foxconn ahead of Friday's big launch.
According to a source within China Mobile, China's largest mobile network provider has just received about 1.4 million units of Apple's latest iPhone 5S phones ahead of Friday's big launch. Just before Christmas, Apple announced that it has finally come to a deal with China Mobile to sell its phones.
In addition, the source said, "“Shipping one million or more iPhones to a single carrier per month is substantial. But we have limited visibility beyond this month as Apple hasn’t informed Foxconn of the volume for the next shipment to China Mobile."
This sentiment was shared by Sandy Shen, an analyst with Gartner, who said, “Shipping one million or more iPhones to China Mobile every month would be significant to Apple as its average monthly iPhone sales in China is only about two million."
China Mobile is the world's largest mobile network by subscribers with over 760 million customers. Apple's deal with China Mobile will give it access to the network's numerous subscribers and is a potential gold mine for the Cupertino firm. Analysts predict that the deal will see Apple sell an additional 10 to 30 million iPhones this year.
