Oppo today (1 August 2023) announced that its smartphone brand now ranks fourth in the global smartphone market, with 10% of the global market share and 18% of market share in China in H1 2023.
According to data provided by Canalys, Oppo accounts for 51.9 million shipments of phones. The report stated it was the best-selling brand in China for H1 2023, and it ranks fourth after Samsung, Xiaomi and Apple on a global scale (1, 2).
Oppo partly attributed its growing market share to the uptick in its foldable smartphones. The company said it saw rapid growth for foldables, where the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s popularity saw its global foldable market share increase from 5% (Q1 2022) to 13% (Q1 2023).

Further data showed that Oppo Find N2 Flip made up 15% of all foldable smartphone sales in the Chinese market in the first five months of 2023. In other parts of the world, like Singapore, the same foldable also saw significantly more demand than its regular counterparts.
This is against a backdrop of declining smartphone shipments around the world, with Samsung seeing a 95% drop in smartphone shipment profits year-on-year.
