Canada and Japan to Get Dual-core Galaxy S III with 2GB of RAM and LTE; Korea and Germany Gets Quad-core with LTE (Update)
Canada will be the second country after Japan to get the Samsung Galaxy S III with 2GB of RAM but a downsized 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and LTE connectivity, Android Police reports.
Update 2: Samsung has confirmed that it will be selling the Galaxy S III with both quad-core Exynos chip and LTE modem chip in Korea. This will make the variant slightly thicker at 9mm; otherwise, the 2100mAh battery will be retained. The quad-core LTE variant is said to hit the Korean market in July. Another source has mentioned that Germany and other countries in Europe will be getting the quad-core LTE variant as well, but later in October.
Update: Local Samsung representatives have refused to comment on the 2GB variant's availability in Singapore.
Consumers planning to get the Galaxy S III in Canada will be treated to one with modified hardware. Samsung has confirmed that the Canadian version will come with 2GB of RAM, LTE connectivity, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (rather than the quad-core Exynos chip that the non-LTE Galaxy S III has). This news comes hot on the heels of what was announced in Japan 2 weeks earlier - NTT Docomo in Japan will be shipping a similarly 2G RAM/S4 processor-equipped S III as well.
US is expected to be the next market to be grace with the 2GB RAM variant but as of now, nothing has been confirmed by Samsung yet.
