BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha C QWERTY Device Announced for Developers
RIM has announced the availability of the Dev Alpha C device, one that comes with a physical QWERTY keyboard, for developers. To further complement a robust developer environment, the final BlackBerry 10 Gold SDK will be available for download on 11 December, ahead of its official launch.
Announced at the BlackBerry Jam Asia event is the availability of a Dev Alpha C device that comes with a QWERTY keyboard.
It was in May at RIM's 2012 BlackBerry World event that RIM started distributing an unrefined BlackBerry 10 prototype, codenamed Dev Alpha A, to developers. Shortly after, details of a more hardware-refined Dev Alpha B device were leaked on Twitter before making its official appearance a month later in September. Both devices are full touch-screen devices; the Dev Alpha A device houses a 4.2-inch 1280 x 768 pixels touch display, 1GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 or better chipset inside. Currently, over 7500 of these devices have been seeded to developers in the hopes that a large number of apps are refined and ready at Jan 30th's BlackBerry 10 launch.
Of course, the L-series full touchscreen smartphones are not the only upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices; the N-series keyboard-armed cousin is set to round up the equation for those who prefer typing away on physical QWERTY keyboards. To ensure that apps run properly on a phone with a drastically different form factor, RIM will be issuing the Dev Alpha C QWERTY device to a selected pool of developers.

Nothing much is known about this device at the moment, save for the fact that it will house a "square touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels", according to Alec Saunders, VP of Developer Relations & Ecosystem Development. Otherwise, the upcoming N-series devices will definitely house a bigger touchscreen than previous BlackBerry devices. To further complement a robust developer environment, the final BlackBerry 10 Gold SDK will be available for download on 11 December, ahead of its official launch.
