Based on Xiaomi’s recent patent filings, expect new smartphones from the Chinese powerhouse very soon!

According to two recent patent designs filed by Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker plans to introduce smartphones with some interesting design elements. For the first patent, Xiaomi appears to have plans for a smartphone with different hole punch displays, i.e., the different configurations of front-facing, punch-hole cameras and their symmetrical positions at opposite sides of the display.

For the second patent, the purported new phone will feature a screen that curves over the side of the front display. The phone appears to have done away with buttons and that currently ubiquitous front-facing camera notch. This design concept will be very similar to the upcoming Oppo OnePlus 7, whose photo was allegedly leaked early this year. Xiaomi appears to be hard at work to breath new design concepts into the a stagnant smartphone market, and its recent sliding Mi Mix 3 bear witness to the company’s tireless efforts.
