The ASUS ZenFone 3 Max with 4,100mAh battery launches in Singapore

The second generation of ASUS’s big-battery smartphone is finally available in Singapore. The 4,100mAh device doubles as a power bank with the ability to charge other accessories.

ASUS announced the availability of their ZenFone 3 Max, the second-generation of their massive battery smartphone with a capacity of 4,100mAh. The ASUS ZenFone 3 Max (ZC520TL) is available in three colors: Titanium Grey, Glacier Silver, and Sand Gold (pictured). It’s priced at S$248 and it can be found in Singapore, via ASUS brand stores and authorized resellers.

Since the phone falls under the ZenFone 3 branding, the ZenFone 3 Max has aesthetics that are similar to the ZenFone 3 – it uses a sand-blasted aluminum alloy body that’s further enhanced with its 2.5D glass touchscreen at 5.2-inch HD (1,280 x 720 pixels resolution). The sides are flanked with diamond-cut chamfered edges. Despite its massive battery charge, the ZenFone 3 Max manages to be 8.5mm thin at just 148g.

The massive 4,100mAh isn’t just for the ZenFone 3 Max alone. The phone comes with USB on-the-go (OTG) support, and this feature allows it to use its battery stores to charge other devices. By default, the phone charges other devices at 0.5A. It has an optional Rapid Reverse Charge function that turns off the phone’s functionality and charges said devices up to 1.5A. The Rapid Reverse Charge mode can monitor charging levels, and it won’t allow itself to go below 30% capacity while charging.

To further leverage on its battery capabilities, the ZenFone 3 Max has two battery-extending features. The first is Power Saving mode, which lowers CPU performance and screen brightness while disabling mobile data and Wi-Fi when the device is asleep. The second is Super Saving mode, where it does the same Power Saving steps, in addition to powering down all network functions except phone, SMS, and alarm. The phone’s battery also comes with Performance and Normal modes, plus a Custom mode for user-specific preferences.

The rear of the ZenFone 3 Max sports a 13-megapixel PixelMaster camera with f/2.2 aperture. It’s helped along with features such as Backlight (Super HDR), 52-megapixel Super Resolution, Low Light support, and various beautification modes. The front has a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture as well. According to ASUS, the Backlight (Super HDR) feature helps the user see clearly in daytime shadow, while Super Resolution has the ability to capture multiple shots to produce a single photograph with 52-megapixels’ worth of details.
