Apple wants you to use its wireless AirPods with your iPhone 7
Yes it's true, the new iPhone 7 doesn't have a headphone port. You do get some lightning cable EarPods, but that's not what Apple really wants you to use. What it really wants is for you to buy its new wireless AirPods.
As part of Apple's iPhone 7 launch event, it introduced a new set of completely wireless AirPods, independent separate earbuds with sensors in them to know when they're actually inside your ear. The AirPods easily pair with your iPhone or Apple Watch, all you have to do is open the AirPods' case and tap "connect".
The AirPods will be compatible with any device running iOS 10, WatchOS 3 or macOS Sierra. Each AirPod has a tiny battery inside its 'tail' section, which reportedly will last for five hours before needing to be put back in their charging case. The case itself can last for 25 hours, and you can put the AirPods back in their case, and charge both case and AirPods at the same time.
The AirPods use a new Apple chip called the W1 that handles the audio and wireless connection. Each AirPod also has dual accelerometers and optical sensors that help detect when they're in users' ears. If you take the AirPods out, your music will pause. Each AirPod also has a microphone, so you can talk on your phone or access Siri. You can even just use one AirPod independently as a wireless headset.
The AirPods will be available in late October for S$238.
