Besides reassigning some marketing staff to focus on boosting iPhone sales, Apple is also said to be cutting back on new hires.

Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed the plan to reduce hiring for some divisions during a meeting with employees.

While Cook does not believe in hiring freeze and has yet to determine which divisions would be affected, he shared that key divisions such as the AI team would continue to hire new employees at a strong pace.

Senior VPs also held separate meetings with their teams to emphasize that the slowdown in sales of the iPhones provides an opportunity for new innovation.
