Apple releases third quarter earnings report: iPhones up, iPads down

Apple has released its third quarter earnings report, with the company announcing $37.4 billion in revenue. iPhone sales are still going strong despite the rumors of the impending release of a larger-screen iPhone. Apple sold 35.2 million units in the third quarter of 2014, which is a 13% increase  over iPhone sales during the same period last year. Mac sales have also been growing, with an 18% increase from last year's third quarter, from 3.75 million Macs to 4.41 million Macs. Surprisingly, iPad sales are struggling, with numbers continuing to slide down since the second quarter of 2014. Figures show a 9% decrease from the same period last year, at 13.3 million units compared to last year's 14.6 million, which could mean that the iPad sales have finally hit a ceiling.
