Code snippets in the four beta of iOS 17 might have revealed the functions of the rumoured Action Button on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro

The code found in iOS 17 beta suggests that the Action Button might be able to support up to nine customisable options

These options include Accessibility (e.g. VoiceOver, Zoom, Assistive Touch), Shortcuts (e.g. run any shortcut that the users created such as sending a message), Silent mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate and Voice Memos.

Speculation on the Action Button started in March this year when an anonymous source told MacRumors that a new low-energy chip could power an Action Button which will replace the mute switch.

Purported renders of the Apple iPhone 15 Pro published by 9to5Mac show the mute switch being replaced by an "Action Button" that has a similar design to the one on the Apple Watch Ultra

It won't be long until we find out if this rumour is true because Apple is widely expected to unveil its new iPhones in early September.
