The Apple iPhone 16 lineup could come with slimmer MagSafe parts

French case company ShopSystem shared two photos of purported moulds for the iPhone 16 models, which reveal a slimmer MagSafe design.

In a side-by-side photo comparison between the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro, the attachment ring magnet and single alignment magnet seem to be thinner.

While the report speculates that the thinner MagSafe design might require third-party accessory makers to modify their products, the new MagSafe design should be backward compatible with existing MagSafe accessories.

Apple introduced the MagSafe wireless charging technology in 2020 with the launch of the iPhone 12 series. The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) decided to use Apple's MagSafe technology to build the new Qi2 wireless charging standard, aiming to unify wireless charging under a single global standard.
