Apple is said to be moving to an under-display Face ID for the iPhone 16 Pro.

TheElec reports that Apple plans to shift the Face ID components directly under the iPhone 16 Pro's display. These components will not be visible under the display when not in use. While the cutout for the front-facing camera will remain on the iPhone 16 Pro, it would blend in more seamlessly with the surrounding display area.

Bloomberg claims Apple's long term goal is "to implement Face ID in the display itself", and the high-end iPhone models are likely to get the under-display Face ID. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed in April last year that the "real full-screen iPhone" would launch in 2024.

As for the iPhone 15 Pro this year, TheElec says the display cutouts would remain the same as the iPhone 14 Pro as the under-display technology is not ready for implementation. The Korean publication corroborates the Bloomberg's report of Dynamic Island coming to all four iPhone 15 models.
