The journaling app is said to be Apple's strategy to entrench itself in the mental and physical health technology space.
Day One app is being Sherlocked by Apple according to the founder of the journaling app.
Apple might release a journaling app in iOS 17.
Based on documents revieweed by The Wall Street Journal, Apple is believed to be working on an app to let iOS users track and record their activities and thoughts.
The journaling app is expected to sync data from other Apple apps, and offer "All Day People Discovery" feature where it detects the user's proximity to other people and help differentiate between friends and colleagues.
Like all Apple apps and services, security and privacy remain the core of the journaling app. Data collection and analysis will be on-device, and not transmitted or shared.
Paul Mayne, founder of the popular Day One journaling app, claims his app is being Sherlocked. This is a term used by third-party app developers to describe how Apple duplicates the functionality of their apps and include it in the OS or as one of its native apps. He grew suspicious after Apple ended its marketing support for Day One in 2020.
Besides the possibility of launching a journaling app, Apple is rumoured to allow app sideloading in iOS 17. Apple will unveil the "latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS advancements" at WWDC 2023 in June.
