Apple could launch 6.7-inch iPhone 12 in Oct and new iPhone SE next week
The upcoming iPhone 12 lineup could see a two-phase rollout while the next generation iPhone SE could be launched next week.
Another analyst believes the availability of the iPhone 12 could be delayed by a month.
Analyst Jeff Pu claims that the current Engineering Verification Test (EVT) stage of the iPhone 12 development is extended by two weeks to late April for the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models, and to mid-May for the 6.7-inch model. This would mean that the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models could be available in September after the announcement while the 6.7-inch model would be available in October.
The two-phase rollout of iPhone models is nothing new. Apple released the iPhone XS and XS Max in September 2018, and then the iPhone XR in October. The iPhone X also had a later availability in November compared to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in September 2017.
As for the next generation iPhone SE, Pu expects Apple to make an announcement in mid April which means it could be anytime next week. Tipster @jon_prosser shared earlier that Apple is preparing for an announcement on 15 April with shipments starting a week later on 22 April. Cases for the next generation iPhone SE have begun arriving at retailers, which suggests an imminent launch.
