Apple could be introducing the USB Type-C port for the iPhone next year.

According to DigiTimes, Apple is redesigning its chargers and related interface for the iPhone and iPad. Sources at the analog IC vendors claim that Apple will start the transition to USB Type-C with the iPhone in 2019.

Currently, the 2018 iPhone lineup is rumored to come bundled with a new 18W USB-C power adapter. ChargerLab published a series of renders based on information provided by sources in the production line. This will benefit iPhone users as they do not need to purchase additional accessories to enjoy fast charging on their devices.

The original iPhone debut in 2007 with the 30-pin dock connector and Apple introduced the Lightning port on the iPhone 5 in 2012.
