Apple acquired computer vision photo analysis startup Regaind

Several sources claim that Apple has acquired Regaind, a small French startup which specializes in computer vision technology to analyze the contents of photos.

Apple's intelligent search on the Photos app could become more powerful with the recent acquisition of a small French startup, Regaind.

According to TechCrunch, several sources claim that Apple has acquired Regaind earlier this year. Regaind is reportedly developing a computer vision API to analyze the content of photos. The computer vision API can reveal the technical and aesthetic values of the photos you take. For example, it can automatically select the best shot from several photos in burst mode.

Regaind's computer vision API can also analyze the face of an individual to determine the gender, age and emotion. It is not known if Apple has integrated any of Regaind's technologies with iOS 11 and the TrueDepth camera.
