Almost 30% of Android Phones Now Running Froyo

Some four months after Android's 2.2. "Froyo" update was released into the wild, new figures from Google show that the latest iteration of its mobile operating system is starting to take a sizable hold throughout the existing Android market.

For those who have been griping about the fragmented state of Google's Android mobile operating system, recent figures show that the latest version, Android 2.2 or 'Froyo', has now reached 28.7% of all Android phones. While the older Android 2.1 remains the most used at 41%, it's hopefully a sign that manufacturers are pushing updates out faster.
