5G iPhone still on track to launch in September according to Foxconn

Foxconn, which is Apple's most important manufacturing partner, claims that it is still able to deliver the 5G iPhones on time for a September launch.

Contrary to earlier reports about a possible delay in the launch of the iPhone 12, the new iPhones are expected to be on track to launch in September.

On a private conference, investor relations chief Alex Yang shared that Foxconn is still able to meet the deadline despite the travel restrictions and supply chain disruptions caused by the Covid-19 virus in the first two months of the year. Yang cautioned that the September launch could be delayed if the coronavirus situation worsens and leads to further delays.

“We and the customer’s engineers are trying to catch up the missing gap, after we lost some days due to travel ban. There’s opportunity and possibility that we might catch up,” Yang said. “But if there’s a further delay in the next few weeks, months, then you probably have to reconsider launching time. It’s still possible.”

Reuters reported a few days ago that Apple is more concerned about consumer demand in the U.S and Europe where the Covid-19 virus outbreak is getting worse. Analysts from the Bank of America expect the launch of the iPhone 12 to be delayed by a month.
