The Unicode Consortium has published the final list of emojis for 2019 which will include 230 new ones.

As this year's focus is greater inclusion, you can expect to see emojis covering mechanical arms and legs, sign languages, hearing aids, manual and motorized wheelchairs, and new variants of "people holding hands" in different genders and races.

The range of animals represented is also expanded with otters, orangutans, flamingos and sloths making the list. Foodies can also use new emojis such as butter, garlic, onion, waffles and ice cubes.

It will take several months for the 230 emojis to appear in our consumer devices as it is up to software providers (e.g. Apple, Google, Samsung and Microsoft) to design their own takes on each emoji and roll them out in their respective interfaces.
