The new Sharp Aquos R10 smartphone, just launched in Singapore (6 August), is the successor to the Aquos R9.
A closer look at what Sharp offers in its mid-range handset reveals that it has very slight upgrades, making the Aquos R10 a 2025 version of its previous model.

Same chipset, battery, display quality, and designer
Sharp Aquos R10.
The Sharp Aquos R10 is still using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor, although this model comes with 12GB of RAM and double the storage at 512GB.
The display is the same 6.5-inch FHD+ Pro IGZO OLED panel, which features a 1-240Hz refresh rate. The 240Hz refresh rate is simulated, as the disclaimer states that its actual refresh rate is updated 120 times a second, with a black screen inserted between each frame to achieve the 240 display state changes per second. Not every application or game will support this feature either.
The top and bottom speakers are enclosed in a full-metal box, which helps to enhance sound pressure for a better audio experience. The phone also supports Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
The cameras also appear to be effectively identical. While its official statement said the main shooter uses a new sensor, both old and new sensors aren’t named.

The dual-camera array on the rear comprises a 50MP f/1.9 main camera with OIS and a 50MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera with a 122° FOV. As for the front selfie camera, it’s a 50MP f/2.2 lens with an 84° FOV.
The phone is juiced by the same 5,000mAh battery and comes with the same IPX5/IPX8/IP6X-rated water and dust resistance. There’s also shock resistance, with the phone complying to MIL-STD-810 standards, just like its predecessor.
A nice point to note is that the phone supports expandable storage of up to 1TB via microSD card, which isn’t common amongst phones nowadays.
Both current and previous models are also supervised by the same Miyake Design that’s found on other Sharp models.
On paper, there really doesn’t seem to be many differences between the Sharp Aquos R10 and the older Sharp Aquos R9, which begs the question of why this refresh is needed.
