OPPO’s new A6 Pro 5G smartphone is an affordable and durable option for kids or the elderly

To be fair, everyone drops their phones from time to time, not just children or the elderly. So we can definitely see the appeal in having a durable smartphone, and brands see it too, with phones like the upcoming Honor X9d highlighting this target market.

And now, OPPO is trying to get a slice of the pie with the new A6 Pro 5G smartphone that will be going on sale from 1 October 2025 onwards.

Equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor and 8GB of RAM along with 256GB of storage, the A6 Pro 5G gets a large 6,500mah battery that supports fast 80W wired charging. OPPO says the battery has remarkable longevity and will retain over 80% of its original capacity even after 1,830 charging cycles.

There’s also a 4,300mm² vapour chamber with an expanded graphite layer to help improve the heat dissipation of the phone, allowing for better performance and longevity of the components inside.

The phone gets a 6.57-inch AMOLED display that has a120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. This is protected by AGC DT-Star D+ Crystal Shield Glass, and the phone chassis gets OPPO’s Sponge Bionic Cushioning, which uses foam and silicone pads to airbags to shield the internals from impact.

The A6 Pro 5G is rated IP66, IP68 and IP69, which provides a good amount of dust and water resistance so you won’t have to worry even if you bring the phone to the beach or into a pool.

As for cameras, there’s a 50MP main camera on the rear, along with a 2MP bokeh portrait camera and a 16MP selfie camera. It should be sufficient for simple photo taking, but some users might miss having an ultra-wide camera.

OPPO promises two major Android software updates and three years of security updates for this phone. Despite that short support timeframe, OPPO has a new One-Tap Refresh feature which performs different optimisations at the press of a button, which contributes to OPPO’s claim that the A6 Pro 5G will be able to provide 60 months of smooth use.

The OPPO A6 Pro 5G’s closest rival is probably the Honor X9d. Like the A6 Pro 5G, the X9d was designed with durability in mind and features an even larger 8,300mAh. It also has a higher IP69K water and dust resistance rating. That said, we still don’t know details such as its processor and camera specs. Stay tuned for more on these phones.

Singapore pricing and availability

The OPPO A6 Pro 5G will be available in Stellar Blue and Coral Pink from 1 October 2025 onwards, with a retail price of S$399. As part of the launch, customers will receive a complimentary Bluetooth headset with each purchase while stocks last.

There’s no mention of which model it is, but based on the promotional materials from online retailers, it appears to be the OPPO H-09 neckband-style Bluetooth earphones. We’ve reached out to OPPO to clarify, and will update this article if we have more information.
