OnePlus announced in a blog post that its five-year partnership with Hasselblad is coming to an end. At the same time, the company revealed it is developing its own imagine engine.

A lookback at the Hasselblad’s partnership

The collaboration began in 2021 with the launch of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, combining Hasselblad’s renowned colour science with OnePlus’ engineering and computational photography.

While the partnership comes to a close, OnePlus says “Hasselblad’s refined aesthetic sense” has become part of its imaging DNA and will continue to be a part of every future OnePlus camera.

OnePlus’ in-house imaging engine, called DetailMax Engine, represents the next stage in the company’s imaging journey.

Built from the ground up, it leverages computational photography to “present scenes as they truly are, without over-beautification or distortion”

The next OnePlus flagship phone will be the first device to debut the DetailMax Engine.
