Looking forward to upgrading your phone? Then you'll definitely want to keep an eye on Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, which starts next week on 26th February and runs until 1st March. Samsung however is jumping the gun with its Galaxy S9 Unpacked event happening on Sunday night (25th February).

Before the show kicks off, here's a quick look at some of the biggest announcements we expect to see:

Samsung

Samsung's Galaxy S9 event will take place the night before the show on 25th February. The S9 is one of the worst kept secrets in the industry, with almost everything from the design to the specs, camera capabilities and software features (Samsung has its own version of Apple's animoji) already leaked. If you want to spoil yourself before the show, read everything we know about the S9 here.

LG

LG Senior VP, Ha Jeung-uk, announced at CES that "the future for LG lies in AI", and we'll get our first look at LG's efforts at MWC where the company has confirmed it will be unveiling an updated 2018 edition of the LG V30 with AI capabilities.

Current rumors suggest that LG's "Vision AI" will focus on imaging, and will enable you to take better photos with your phone. The AI will analyze objects you are shooting and recommend the best shooting mode from eight presets: portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise and sunset. You'll also be able to point the phone at something and it will search through a large database to find an ideal match. Apparently over 100 million images were used to create the algorithms.

Sony

Sony has been very secretive about what it will be launching at MWC this year. The only thing we've seen is this teaser video that shows a hand and a bunch of ripples cascading down onto it from above:

What could the video be hinting at? A curved smartphone? That's about three years too late, right? Could it be hinting at some kind of haptic feedback or other rippling sensation? Unless Sony releases more teaser videos in the next few days we'll have to wait until next Monday (26th February to find out).

ASUS

Despite the ZenFone 4 series only being announced a mere six months ago, ASUS has confirmed that it will be unveiling the next-generation ZenFone 5 series at MWC 2018. The Taiwanese company shared on Twitter that it would be holding a launch event on 27th February, with the hashtag "#BACKTO5" - because, of course, the very first ZenFone series already had a ZenFone 5 in it (back then, it referred to the screen size).

Not much is known about the upcoming ZenFone 5 series, although a leaked image found on Twitter claiming to show the ZenFone 5 shows an all-screen bezel-less display with an iPhone X-like notch in it.
