Why you should visit Samsung's Sleepless in SG photography exhibition
Sleepless in SG is a photography exhibition featuring award-winning commercial photographer Geoff Ang, documentary photographer Mindy Tan and others, using the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to achieve stunning night shots. The exhibition is held at the ION Art Gallery from 8th to 22nd July 2022.
If you are looking for inspiration to improve your night photography skills, take a trip down to Samsung's Sleepless in SG photography exhibition at ION Orchard.
Covering an area of 280 sqm (or the size of three 4-room HDB flats) at ION Art Gallery, the exhibition opens daily from 10am to 10pm from July 8 to July 22. It features a collection of 70 photos from local photographers, content creators as well as user submitted entries.
Award-winning commercial photographer Geoff Ang, documentary photographer Mindy Tan as well as popular content creators Kevin Ong and Qi Hao are heading this exhibition with their photos taken using Samsung's flagship smartphone - the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Tips from the pros
Mr Kevin Ong took the exhibited photos using Night mode of S22 Ultra. He said: "The Night mode makes it easy for anyone to shoot night scenes. You just need to press the button and the camera will do the work for you."

On her exhibited work at the exhibition in which all are shot using the Pro mode of S22 Ultra, Ms Mindy Tan said that this mode offers her more flexibility in fine-tuning the settings.
"I can easily change the colour temperature, and thus the feel of the photo, using the Pro mode," she said.

Mr Geoff Ang conducted night photography workshops for 35 lucky participants on July 9th and 10th. But he also offered a few personal tips on the opening day of the exhibition (July 8th).
One such tip is to "look every where but straight". He said: "Most of us are too into our routine to notice what is going on around us. Sometimes, you just need to look up or down to find interesting subjects to photograph."

While many people tend to shoot with the light source behind their backs, Mr Ang said you should be shooting into the light source. That way, you can get nice light flares and add something different to your photos. He even recommended smudging the lens to get those light flares or streaks in your photos.
Like Mr Ong, Geoff said you have to take advantage of the computational photography that the S22 Ultra's Night mode offers. "You will see things you cannot see from the naked eye," he said.
