LG has collaborated with Korean boy band BTS to launch the G7+ ThinQ. If you buy the phone from an authorized retailer, you'll be able to choose between a free wireless charging pad, or a premium LG x BTS cover that includes an NFC chip that will let you download exclusive BTS themes, like this one, featuring V.
The G7+ has a 6.1-inch IPS LCD display. There's a notch at the top of the display, but by default it is hidden (blacked out).
There's an option to display the notch or even change the color of it. For some reason LG never actually refers to it as a notch though, calling it a "Second Screen" instead.
On the back there's a dual rear camera setup and a fingerprint scanner. Our review unit is Moroccan Blue, although Platinum Gray, and Aurora Black are also available. Unfortunately, Raspberry Red will not be available in Singapore.
The dual rear camera is completely flush with the rear of the phone. The camera setup pairs a 16-megapixel super wide-angle f/1.9 lens with a 16-megapixel f/1.6 normal lens. Like the LG V30S+, the G7+ boasts AI Cam which can now recognizes 19 scenes, up from 8 on the V30S+.
There are separate volume controls on the left side, as well as a dedicated Google Assistant button. The functionality and placement of this button is very similar to the dedicated Bixby button on Samsung's Galaxy S9 and S9+. And just like Samsung's devices, you can't remap this one either.
Unlike most LG smartphones, there's a dedicated power button on the right-side. The fingerprint scanner on the back is only used for fingerprint scanning and can't be used to wake or turn the phone on.
On the bottom of the phone there's a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a single downward-firing speaker. Despite only having a single speaker, audio on the G7+ is still really loud thanks to a new "Boombox Speaker" setup that utilizes the internal space of the smartphone as a resonance chamber.
