First Looks: Oppo R15

The Oppo R15 will be available to pre-order on the 10th May, and will be on shelves on 17th May. We take a closer look.

1/9

The Oppo R15 has a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a notch in it. It has a 2,280 x 1,080 pixels resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio (~401 ppi).

2/9

The R15 will be available in Frost White, Rouge Red, and Nebula Purple.

Our review model is "Nebula Purple" and features an interesting color gradient that is black at the top and a metallic purple at the bottom. It reminds me of the Huawei P20 Pro Twilight.

3/9

Individual volume control buttons can be found on the left side, while the power button and combination NanoSIM and Micro SD card slot is on the right. The Micro SD card slot is compatible with cards up to 256 GB. Internally, the phone has 128GB storage.

4/9

The R15 is one of the last remaining smartphones with a 3.5mm headphone port. However, it is also one of the last remaining smartphones still using a Micro-USB port.

Flanking the Micro-USB port are two speaker grilles, however only the left one is actually functional.

5/9

The R15's AMOLED display looks great, with vivid colors and deep contrast.

6/9

The default setting for the phone actually masks the notch (with black bars on either side) but you can configure individual apps to either use the full screen (with the notch) or to only display content in the area below the notch.

7/9

The R15 has a dual camera setup pairing a 16-megapixel f/1.7 lens with a 5-megapixel f/2.2 lens. The module has a 1/2.6-inch sensor.

On the front, there's a 20-megapixel, f/2.0 selfie camera.

8/9

There's a bit of a camera bump, but it isn't too bad.

9/9

The R15 is powered by a Mediatek Helio P60 octa-core processor with 6GB RAM.

The phone will be available for pre-order on 10th May 2018 for S$749 and will officially be on shelves on 17th May.
