Demand for iPhone 17 said to be stronger than iPhone 16

Whether the iPhone Air will be a hit with consumers remains to be seen.

Early pre-order estimates suggest that demand for the iPhone 17 lineup is stronger than last year’s iPhone 16.

Despite production volumes being about 25% higher than last year’s models, robust pre-order demand has already pushed shipping dates back by at least a week. Unsurprisingly, the iPhone 17 Pro Max remains the most popular choice among the four new phones.

As for the iPhone Air, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo notes it is still too early to determine whether demand is stronger or weaker than the iPhone 16 Plus. While the device is still available for launch-day pickup, Kuo notes that production output is approximately three times higher than that of the model it replaces.

The iPhone 17 lineup and iPhone Air officially hit retail stores this Friday, September 19. Still undecided on which model to buy? Check out our buying guide.
