Apple boosting production of iPhone 17 on the back of stronger-than-expected demand

What a difference the always-on ProMotion display makes.

Demand for the standard Apple iPhone 17 model is reportedly stronger than expected.

According to The Information, Apple has instructed two suppliers to boost daily production by at least 30% to meet the demand.

That said, this unexpected surge in demand for the standard iPhone 17 model could suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro lineup – typically the more popular choice – may not be selling as strongly, which could potentially affect Apple’s overall gross margin.

However, this might not be the case for Singapore, because the Pro iPhones currently face a long waiting time. At the time of publication, local delivery estimates for the standard iPhone 17 model range from October 7 to 14, with no in-store stock available at any Apple Store in Singapore. In comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max faces an even longer wait time, with deliveries scheduled between 14 and October 22.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared that demand for the iPhone 17 lineup is stronger than last year’s iPhone 16, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max remaining the most popular choice.

The standard iPhone 17 model received one of the most compelling updates in years: improved battery life, double the base storage, and a 120Hz display - all at a lower price point (compared to what consumers would buy for a 128GB iPhone 16).
