Cross-platform file sharing between Apple and Android devices is finally a reality.

Google has announced that Android Quick Sharefirst introduced at CES 2024now works with Apple’s AirDrop, allowing seamless file transfers between iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android devices.

The transfer process remains secure, using a direct peer-to-peer connection with no data routed through external servers. To send or receive files, users on both platforms must set their file-sharing visibility to “Everyone for 10 minutes.”

At launch, the Pixel 10 series will be the first Android phone to support this feature, with Google planning to roll it out to more Android devices over time.
