This is purely my own experience that I would like to share.
Our helper from Myhelper.sg was horrid. She can’t cook, refuses to clean, run out of the house to meet friends in the day when no one is home, wants to make extra cash by doing odd jobs during weekdays ( yes she asked if we let her go), borrow from licensed money lender, borrowed from illegal money lenders and make up stories of her kids/husband back home hospitalised and ask for salary advance. She came work for us for 2 months did not do much. We were going through a move to a new house. Everyone of us were packing stuff at night when we get home from work except her because he keeps herself in her room and goes to bed at 9pm while we pack till 2am. I asked her to clean the bathroom once and she gave me attitude and threw tantrums. At that moment, even I who do not believe in violence took all of me to hold back the urge to give her a tight slap.
The worst is I have reasons to suspect the agency is on it too. Unfortunately like someone noted online, I do not have proof. It’s a gut feel on things and I’m seldom wrong on such things. Don’t trust this agency. I can only hope this message warns people not to fall into the same situation. We got harassed by her money lenders that threatened to burn our house and hurt us. We had to make a police report that did not amount to anything.
When I think about this whole situation. The agency is the only party that gain from this and the employee is the biggest loser. Think about it, an agency can easily scout for someone in Philippines or Indonesia and ask if they like a fully paid trip to Singapore. When the agency fee is fully paidup, they can get them to borrow money from illegal or legal money lenders to provide their employers contact to be harassed. So they can then arrange for the helper to get home safe and pocket those borrowed monies with no repercussions. in certain cases, I think the agency can even pretend to be the money lenders to make those threats to employers to speed up the repatriation process. How convenient.
The agency we had this experience with was Myhelper.sg but I think it could happen anywhere. So beware.
