In the lead-up to Razercon on the 21 Oct, Razer has announced an update to its Seiren line of broadcasting microphones, the Seiren V2 Pro and Seiren V2 X, targeting both professional and aspiring streamers.

Both the V2 Pro and V2 X build on the foundation laid by Razer's original Seiren X and Seiren Elite with improvements to vocals and audio control, and rounded designs reminiscent of Razer's cheaper Seiren Mini microphone.

Starting off with the V2 X, the successor to the Seiren X, there's a 25mm condenser microphone built into the case, similar to the original Seiren X, and it keeps the supercardioid polar pattern, designed to reject sounds coming from the sides and back of the microphone.

According to the specs sheet shared by Razer, the bit rate it records at has been improved from the Seiren X as well, going from 16 to 24 bit, with a 48kHz sample rate. An analog gain limiter has been built in too, to prevent voice clipping and audio distortion from loud sounds like shouts.

As for the Seiren V2 Pro, it's being pitched as the V2 X's bigger twin. It keeps the 24 bit recording that the V2 X has but ups the sample rate to a max of 96kHz, compared to the Seiren Elite's 44.1/48kHz. It also has a cardioid polar pattern rather than the V2 X's supercardioid pattern, and the V2 Pro switches the V2 X's condenser capsule out for a 30mm dynamic capsule. The analog gain limiter is also retained, but it's now accompanied by a high pass filter, toggled through Razer Synapse, which can cut out unwanted low-frequency sounds.

Finally, both microphones include a 3.5mm headphone jack for live monitoring, which is not only a welcome feature if you record music or vocals, but also a convenient function if you want to know what your audience might be hearing through the microphone. There's also built-in shock absorber to dampen accidental knocks and bumps.

The listings for the Razer Seiren V2 Pro and Seiren V2 X are live now, and the microphones are available for  S$239.90 and S$159.90 respectively.
