New iMac with M1 Pro/Max and ProMotion mini-LED display to launch in 1H 2022
Apple is believed to be bringing some new features of the recently announced MacBook Pros to an upcoming iMac model.
Tipster @dylandkt shared on Twitter that the new iMac model will come with a ProMotion mini-LED display. The base model is said to have 16GB RAM and 512GB storage space. Other purported specs include M1 Pro and M1 Max configurations, dark bezels, HDMI port, SD card slot, USB-C port, a similar design to the 24-inch iMac, Pro Display XDR, and a starting price of US$2,000.
Face ID was reportedly tested on the device, but it is not confirmed. Tom Boger, Apple's VP of Product Marketing fo the iMac and iPad, said "Touch ID is more convenient on a laptop since your hands are already on the keyboard".
The new iMac model is likely to launch in the first half of 2022. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg shared a similar report last week on the timeline of the new launches. Display Supply Chain Consultant CEO Ross Young said the new iMac may launch in early 2022.
