Aside from loading more Macs with the M2 chip, Apple is likely to use the chipset for another device.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says Apple's upcoming mixed reality headset will be equipped with the base M2 chipset along with 16GB RAM.

Apple recently unveiled the M2 chip at WWDC 2022 and the MacBook Air is the first device to powered by the chipset. Early benchmarkks confirm the M2 chip is indeed 20% faster than the M1 chip.

Gurman revealed in December 2021 that the headset will have several processors to support its gaming, media consumption and communication features. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also had a similar claim; Kuo expects the headset to have a processor with similar computing power as the Mac, and a lower-end chip for sensor-related computing tasks.

Apple is expected to unveil the mixed reality headset in January 2023.
