Most of the times if we need additional storage for a computer, we plug in an external drive. But these lack any additional capabilities like RAID and at most use the software our computers come with to do a basic incremental backup.
But the TerraMaster D2-310 DAS is different. It comes with four storage modes (RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, and SINGLE) to secure your data at all times. For example, there is RAID 1 to automatically secure stored data with a mirror backup. There is also a RAID 0 mode with faster speeds, reducing copy time significantly to boost productivity.
As a Direct-attached storage (DAS) device as opposed to a NAS, it isn’t connected to the network and is therefore not hampered by bandwidth issues.
The aluminium-alloy chassis is cooled by a low-noise fan while the USB 3.1 Gen 1 5Gbps SUPERSPEED+ Type-C connection can deliver a maximum read speed of 410MB/s and maximum write speed of 400MB/s using SSDs. This means users can copy 1GB videos in just 2-3 seconds. In total, the chassis can hold up to 36TB of storage.
TerraMaster recently released an upgraded version of their D8 Thunderbolt 3 (D8-331) 8-bay professional-grade RAID Direct-attached storage (DAS) device. With a pair of Thunderbolt 3 40Gb/s connectors and an upgraded RAID controller, it can deliver faster data transmission by up to 30% over the previous model.
