Acronis has announced Acronis Backup 12.5, the latest version of its backup solution for businesses.
It is available in two editions – Standard and Advanced – to allow businesses the freedom and flexibility to scale according to their needs. The Standard edition is best suited for small operations, but customers will be able to upgrade at any time to the Advanced version as their infrastructure grows.
If you’re on older version of the software, Acronis says you can upgrade without needing to do a complete reinstall.
Over 20 platforms are supported by Acronis Backup 12.5, including the likes of Windows, Office 365, Azure, Linux, Mac OS X, Hyper-V, and mobile operating systems like iOS and Android.
But while enterprise-grade solutions are frequently thought of as being convoluted, Acronis points out that Backup 12.5 has a user-friendly interface that is more akin to consumer products.
It features a unified touch-friendly management console that makes it easy to backup, manage, and restore data, allowing IT administrators to easily manage scenarios ranging from one physical computer to a thousand virtual machines.

Acronis Backup 12.5 brings several new features to the table as well, including intelligent detection and protection against ransomware and automated restoration of damaged data with Acronis Active Protection.
After last month’s WannaCry attack hit businesses and governments around the world, ransomware has taken on a new prominence, and Acronis’ new solution hopes to address that.
In addition, the latest release introduces new technology that lets users verify the integrity of their backups before restoration, using blockchain to improve regulatory compliance and data integrity.
“Today’s reality is more end-point devices, hybrid infrastructure, and an ever-growing cornucopia of threats. Businesses and enterprises globally are adapting to the cloud and trying to make sense of this ever-changing digital landscape,” said Serguei Beloussov, co-founder and CEO of Acronis.
Against this background of rapidly evolving threats, Acronis thinks its Backup 12.5 is suited to provide a good combination of ease-of-use, security, and reliability.
