At its Sharp Sync Up 2024 regional showcase that took place in Bangkok recently, the company unveiled two new Aquos smart TV models.

The Sharp Aquos XLED GU8500 is the 2024 model added to the range of XLED TVs that first launched in 2023. This will feature 65-inch and 75-inch screen sizes. Unfortunately, Sharp says that it will only be released around the December time-frame so we have no details as to its price.

There are three models in the Aquos Tru GN7000 series that come in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch screen sizes.

All of the new TVs have a 4K display with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. They support HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ. Where they differ is in the display type with the three lower models having an LED display and the higher end, Aquos XLED GU8500 models, having a miniLED display. The XLED models also have something called Deep Chroma QD while the Aquos Tru GN7000 models use Deep Chroma Display.

According to Sharp, the difference between Deep Chroma QD and Deep Chroma Display is that Deep Chroma QD has one additional QD sheet that allows it to reproduce colours so it achieves the highest level of natural colours. Meaning that Deep Chroma QD has high colour purity and richer colour contrast

The three Aquos Tru GN7000 models come with Sharp’s X6 Revelation Processor which the company says, has intelligent upscaling for richer images and coupled with Dolby vision IQ and Dolby Atmos, delivers a “better audio-visual experience”. The two Aquos XLED GU8500 models have an X6 X-Revelation Processor. Again we've reached out to Sharp for the difference.

The Aquos Tru GN7000 models have a pair of dual 12W speakers with both Dolby Digital+ and Dolby Atmos while the speakers on the Aquos XLED GU8500 models have the same support but are 15W. .

For its connectivity options, the Sharp Aquos Tru GN7000 series has Bluetooth 5.1, three HDMI ports (one for eARC), USB-A 2.0, and Wi-Fi. We've reached out to Sharp for more details as to the specific standards supported.

Both TV models have support for gaming with ALLM, VRR, and AMD FreeSync Premium.

These aren’t the only models to come from Sharp this year. Early this year the company launched its FL1X series that brought some of its high-end TV capabilities to a more accessible lower price point.
