One of the biggest selling points of Samsung's The Frame TV is that it's able to display artwork as wallpaper when not in use, and Samsung is now bringing something similar to other TV models with generative AI wallpapers.
This feature first showed up in the Samsung S24 series smartphones, with the option to develop personalised wallpapers for the phones' home and lock screens. Users choose from a list of prepared prompts so it's not infinitely customisable, but there are enough style and colour options to make it relatively personal.
For the TVs, the overall process is the same, with prompts for mood, locations, and colours provided, before three AI-generated options are shown. You can see it in action in the TikTok above.
Unfortunately, it does seem like you'll only be able to display one static AI-generated wallpaper at a time instead of being able to cycle through a collection similar to how The Frame does it with artwork. It would also be nice if Samsung could eventually support short, looping videos of these AI-generated wallpapers, such as waves crashing on a beach or tall stalks of grass swaying in the wind.
We can expect to see this feature being pushed out in a future software update for 2024 Samsung TVs.
