LG to debut smart TVs running WebOS 2.0 at CES 2015
At the 2015 International CES that's running from January 6 to 9 in Las Vegas, LG Electronics will be unveiling new TVs running the company’s newest WebOS 2.0 smart TV platform. The company is also working with Amazon and Netflix to bring 4K content to its TVs.

During last year’s CES, LG showed us for the first time TVs running WebOS. Version 1.0 focused a lot on simplifying the device connection, input switching, and content discovery experiences, and it’s now found its way on many LG LCD and OLED TVs.
Fast forward a year, and LG is ready to debut new smart TVs (perhaps using new tech like quantum dots) at CES 2015; and along with them, a new version of its WebOS smart TV platform. According to the company, WebOS 2.0 offers several speed improvements, including a boot time that’s been reduced by as much as 60%. Accessing content is much faster too; LG says YouTube now loads up to 70% faster when you’re switching to it from the home screen.
New features in WebOS 2.0 include something called My Channels, which allows users to customize their favorite live TV channels or set-top box channels on the Launcher Bar. There’s also Quick Settings that enable users to adjust their TV without interrupting the program they’re watching, and Input Picker for instant recognition of connected devices.
For content, LG says it's working with major content providers like Amazon and Netflix to bring 4K content to its TVs in 2015. But with both services not available here officially, it’s unlikely these deals apply to the TVs that would be sold here.
