Google TV Programming Partners Announced

Google has announced some of its programming partners for its upcoming Google TV service, but the lack of major TV networks are not reassuring.

Even Apple has faced difficulties getting major TV networks to allow its content to be sold for its Apple TV product, so it's perhaps not surprising that Google is facing the same roadblock. The company has just announced its programming partners for its Google TV service, with names like HBO, CNBC and Amazon among the heavyweights, but the lack of TV networks means the average consumer is unlikely to ditch their network and cable channels for Google TV.

NY Times - Google announced on Monday its first Internet and media partners for Google TV, its effort to bring Web entertainment to television sets. But the announcement underscored the difficulties companies face as they try to work their way into the living room. The major television networks — ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC — will not participate, at least for the moment.
