Soon, you’ll be getting AI summaries and recommendations when watching TV.
At CES 2025, Google announced it would implement Gemini into Google TV’s operating system.
The details are a bit fuzzy for now (given how broad Gemini’s uses can be in a TV-watching context), but Google said that Gemini could:
- Make it easier for users to search for media
- Ask for extra context in videos they watch
- Create customised artwork with the family
- Control smart home devices when the TV is in ambient mode
- Get overviews of the day’s news
Given how little was said about the AI addition, we expect it to look very different when Google is ready to share more about Gemini on Google TVs.
Google said these Gemini-related features will start rolling out “later this year” on select Google TV devices.
