Samsung U.S suffers data breach, some customer data stolen

Some information of Samsung U.S customers such as name, contact and date of birth were obtained by hackers in the data breach.

Samsung U.S announced there is a data breach that affected some customer information.

Describing it as "a cybersecurity incident", Samsung U.S shared an unauthorised third party managed to obtain information from some of its systems in late July 2022. Its investigations uncovered that personal information of some customers was affected on or around 4 August 2022.

While the data breach did not involve Social Security numbers, credit and debit card numbers, Samsung U.S says personal information such as name, contact, demographic information, date of birth and product registration numbers were accessed.

The company has secured the affected systems, and is working with an external cybersecurity firm and law enforcement on the matter. In addition, Samsung U.S has communicated directly with affected customers.
